Curtain for Door, Son trying to Escape

Total fluke that the fabric matches our walls spot-on. The curtain rod is an old towel rack; the scavenger strikes again!

PS- am almost done Project Which Shall Not be Named!

Sonic the Hedgehog

This t-shirt is a gift for a son of a friend of mine. I hope he likes it, as soon he would probably rather eat raw worms than wear something his embroidered by his aunty.

Kids Craft Weekly

This site is so sweet and I look forward to doing some of the lessons once DS is a bit older. I did show him the little felt mouse and he wanted me to make him one.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

BRodie is sick so we did this quiet time craft today. He loves the story Chicka chicka Boom Boom. We dno't have the book but a 5 minute dvd where they used the art from the book to animate the film to music. So all the words are sung. its fantastic!

I Bought a Rootbeer Just to Make This

I saw it in a DIY book called Alternacrafts. They used resin to seal theirs and added all kinds of little trinkets inside. I am going to make a necklace with mine.

And yes, I did work on the Project That Shall Not Be Named today too. And I should admit to Melissa and Nicole, that yes, Lord of the Rings Part II does have a lot of stuff that happens in it and is not totally pointless.

babies babies everywhere!

I just finished a baby gift tonight too! But since I'm not as craftykins as mandypants I bought my diaper bag and filled it with all sorts of doodads: change pad, hand sanitizer, travel wipes, baby toy, rings to attch other toys, abgs for dirty diapers/soiled clothes, mini kleenex, baby washcloths, spare snap t....and this sling! I love love love this fabric so much I'm going back tomorrow to make an identical one for me. I did the ring securing part over your shoulder a bit differently so you fan it yourself instead of being pre done.M

Baby Gift for a Friend

I ordered the Red Riding Hood fabric for a mei tai for a friend of mine and here is the finished product, along with a wristlet and changepurse I sewed for her as well.

Nicole is a SAHM to 3 boys (4, 2 and 3 months) and sews very comfy and pretty mei tai baby carriers. You can see and purchase her mei tais at Tadpoles and Butterflies.

Duvet cover

I made this duvet cover for brodie's bed today. i used a crinkly striped fabric tat matchese the paint in his room perfectly (navy, light blue and red). I used a fleece blanket we already ahd for the cozy on him side and the crinkly on the outside. inside is a down blanket, not an actual duvet so it isn't too bulky. He really likes it, and I managed to wash it and dry it before bed. Sweet dreams brodie! melissa

My 2nd sling

i made a deal with Juanita to make her a sling in exchange for a second set of Wader car track. So here it is! I took a close up so you can see the print. I tihnk its pretty cute fabric with some nice stretch to it. Melissa

My first sling

I made this sling over the last couple of days, thinking of adjsutments as I wore it. All in all it cost me $12.50 to make which I think is pretty rad!

At first I made it unpadded but then I noticed the fabric edge was digging into Coopers legs a bit if he was just wearing a snap t. So I adjsuted to it as if I had Cooepr in it and added about a foot length of batting where it would go under his bum.

The fabric has a bit of stretch to it so its super comfy and nice and light for these bloody hot days! MELISSA

Snowmobile

My bestest buddy is having a baby in october and they run a lodge and do snowmobile tours etc..in northern BC. Anyway I thought a snowmobile would be fitting! They don't know if they are having a boy or girl so I tried to keep the colors really neutral. Melissa

Tin Cans

Tonight I washed up some cans and covered them with pretty paper I had left over from that scarpbooking page I did. I stuck some things in it like pens, markers and spoons but the possibilities are endless! Small flowering plants, herbs along the windowsill, rolled up cutlery in napkins for guests over at a bbq....

Thanks Martha, this idea was in the first mag of my new subsription! melissa

Another snap t

But this time its for Cooper. I'm trying using less thread and smaller stitches I tihnk it gives it a more detailed look. I need to watch Amanda more! Melissa

Gift for a friend's new baby

Felt name banner and embroidered onesie.

I haven't posted much as I've just been doing embroidery on little things and working on the Project Which Shall Not be Named (due at Christmas). Oh wait, I did this:

I really like the idea of combining traditional feminine crafts with feminist statements.

See how productive I've been?

See this wonderfully crafty, knock your socks off-piece of craftmagic???? Oh you don't see it? Thats because I've done a BIG FAT nothing lately! Hopefully I can wittle some forest creatures and build a log cabin while we're camping...kidding. But I do hoep to get a few bracelets finished whilst chilling by the campfire. So send me your crafty vibes! I need motivation! Melissa

Skirt

I made this for a friend's 3 year old. Unfortunately I made it about 5 sizes too big. The good news is that she can wear it for about 5 years. I also made a little purse to match and I had a patch that matched the skirt so I put that on the pocket of a teal t-shirt. If only I knew how to make shoes.

Scrapbook page

All I can say is laugh all you want! I was forced to make this scarpbook page for the wonderful wonderful nursery school teacher who isn't coming back next year. They asked each family to make one page to put in an album to give her. So brigth and early this morning Cooper, brodie and I went to Michaels and dropped $20 on cutesy things and fancy papers...Well, here is the end result. LOL doesn't help I don't know what the hell I'm doing! But ah well, its finished now :)

Seriously though, how can anyone afford to scrapbook?! I couldn't believe the prices!

Embroidery Bag

I didn't want to haul my sewing basket camping so I made a pouch I could tuck into my luggage. I wanted it big enough to hold a few t's, threads, needlecase and embroidery scissors. I used the vinyl/fake leather we got for free from someone whose husband was retiring from the upholstery business. The cherries were made from an upholstery leather furniture sampler another friend gave me and the zipper is from a bag of zippers salvaged at Value Village. Total cost for me was about ten cents! It measures about 10 x 12 inches and it's waterproof if I forget it outside in the campsite and it rains.

High chair cover

I made this little cover so Cooperkins won't bonk his head on the back of the highchair. I loooooove having a wooden highchair. I'm pretty happy with the fabric matching chair/dining room. Not so happy with design, but I was winging it. Inside is a seperate pad with all the padding sewn in. I plan on making a few covers so it isn't a big deal if they get messy, practice makes perfect!

Frosty!

Does this even count as crafty? lol

I "frosted" the french doors so our dinnertime isn't a spectator sport for our neighbours and basically anyone who drives by. Slightly annoying at the beginning but wasy once you got the hang of it. Left a little undone at the top so if we need to we can spy outside without having to open the door :)

For Sale

This bag measures approximately 16 x 14" and is 40$ plus any shipping costs. It is a blue linen embroidered with sequins and a white cotton lining. Pocket lined in blue linen. Comes with a wrist pouch (blue embroidered linen lined in lime green cotton) which clips into the bag. The top of the bag zips shut.

Diaper Case and Pouch for a Friend

I tried to make a diaper pouch today to hold diapers and diaper wipes (so the diapers don't get all smooshed in the bottom of the bag). I thought it would be fabulously easy but it was a bit trickier than I thought.

This one looked good until I put the diapers in:

So I tried again but the top still looks funky when the diapers are in. I think I will try one later with panels on the sides and a flatter top.

And a pouch for a friend with some embroidery in the corner:
