QT pi

Here is my little QT pi (symbol). I didn't realize one kind of cotton to the next can make a world of difference on an embroidery project! this organic cotton t is so soft but doesn't have much give so I almost made a couple of small holes :( But I will definitely stick to some cotton blends instead for the future. Or just a different brand of shirt. M

Ma'am put the glue gun down

Omigawd buttons are way to much fun! How did I ever live without hot glue and buttons before?! I know it looks ridiculously easy but...well it is. Anyway, I promise not to wear them all at once :) M

Oh and these are way cuter in real life. I tried a bunch of pics but they jsut aren't doing them justice!

Button fun!

After seeing the fabu buttons on one hour craft I decided to make a button bracelet for Brodie. It makes a great alliteration :) Brodies Button bracelet.

I didn't look at the tutorial so I wouldn't be completely copying lol. I also made this button hairclip for me. Look out I have a new hot glue gun :)

Lambkins

Free pattern here.

Craft Room Therapy

I've been feeling kind of blah lately* but some of my unpatented craft room therapy is helping.

Christmas present. Yes, I've started making them and no, you're not a slacker for not starting yet.

Close-up. Cross-stitch takes lots of stitches.

Headband from the Horray for Headbands post on One Hour Craft (see post below)

In my messy hair. Helps cover greys!

Baby blanket. Super cute sea turtles and super-soft fabric on the other side.

oh I just have to add a sea turtle close-up. They're so sweet.

* post comments. It'll make me feel better.

Karlynn's Wrap

I made a wrap for Karlynn and Ivy today. its black material with black embroidery print on it. Then part of the inside where Ivy will sit facing in or out in the front carry is this pretty paisley material which I'm sure will look Stunning with Ivy's big blue peepers! Melissa

p.s straight up pictures of a wrap are so bad lol, doesn't do it justice at all!

Halloween stuff

I am planning on making a Halloween scene before the big day arrives. On this plate oy can see the ghost, 2 bats, 2 bones and a jack o lantern but can't see his face. These will now dry for 24 hours and then I can't paint them! m

Bookmark

My 5 minute craft of the day! Everytime we sit down to read a Magic Tree Hosue book I never have a bookmark handy. Since folding pages is frowned upon ;) I finally told Brodie that while he was sleeping I was going to make him a bookmark. Here it is! Just felt pieces sewn onto felt pieces. Melissa

Fresh off the hoop

I just finished this for Harpers 1 year birthday today! This green is Katherines favourite colour so I hope she likes it for her little princess. I like this so much better than the last one I am going to redo it tonight now that I am better at the satin stitch, although the record gave me some grief I just couldn't figure out which direction to go in. Ignore all the pink around from my transfer pencil I haven't washed this yet! Melissa

The Quilter

This is my most ambitious cross-stitch project, it took me 9 months to finish when I did it and would probably take me 9 years to finish a project this size now. Once I retire I will be a cross-stitch wizard. Click to see larger.

Anything but a fanny pack

I refuse to call this a fanny pack so I have settled on utility belt. Based on the picture A posted awhile back I made some changes and finished this tonight for my mom.Melissa

Wrap continued

I was so sad I shrank my wrap the other day! I tried to make a replacement one and that was fine for wearing Cooper facing me, but on the weekend I tried facing him out and it wasn't comfortable at all! So tonight I added an extension onto the original one so I could wear it again. I also added some happy fabric on the inside for a little peekaboo effect.

The grey is the fabric I used for the replacement one. I may try and double the fabric so it was some more weight since I have a lot of it and it was cheaper than dirt to see if that helps.

The black is the new and improved wrap :) So note to self : heavier fabric with less stretch works much much better!Melissa

Anarchy in the AB

This is one baby girl bday gift I finished for the many birthdays being celebrated this month. I started out using split stitch to fill in the black circle around the A, but it was taking forever so I bit the bullit and decided to try a satin stitch which I hadn't done before. So I filled in the A, B and C with that. I'll be using that stitch a lot more from now on! Melissa

Stegosaurus

I started this on the way back from drumheller. I initially put it on an olive green long sleeve but my supposed permanent transfer marker partially washed off! So I had to start again. Brodie got to wear it for his first day back at nursery school yesterday. LOL I like Brodie's "no comment" pose! Melissa

Retro Clipart

at Retro Graphix

Dover Publications also has many many clipart books, some copyright-free.

Mosaic Birdhouse

I made slats for the roof from balsa wood, painted the whole thing white, did mosaic on the walls, with a button trim on the roof and beads on the door. The little fairy inside is made from polymer clay with doll hair and wire wings and she is sleeping on a moss nest.

Sublime Stitching

She makes such great patterns. I already have the pirate one, western, atomique and monkeys. I've just ordered Winterland, Rock n Roll, Chihuahuas and Craftopia.

One for me

I made one belt for me too before leaving for Canmore. I tried using a parachute buckle instead of D rings and used corduroy for material. It works great, I used it everyday!

Project Which Shall Not Be Named

was this, a wedding sampler for my brother and sister-in-law.

Phew, done.
PS professional framing is expensive

Now I am onto christmas presents, including this stocking for DS:

Yeah, that'll take a while. But at least I can post progress as I don't think DS will sneak onto the laptop, read this craft blog and ruin the suprise. Plus, I just ordered this to watch while I stitch:
